LUMA Shaftless Home Elevator

The LUMA is a shaft-less home elevator for two-level homes. It moves between the floors through one opening, and because there is no hoistway, pit or machine room, the building work is a small fraction of what a traditional elevator requires.

It occupies little floor space and can be placed in a living room corner, beside the stairs or in a closet. The cab is fully enclosed for a safe, comfortable ride.

Nationwide Lifts of Pennsylvania installs and services the LUMA in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia. Request a quote or call 570-217-8426 for a free consultation.

Is the LUMA Right for Your Pennsylvania Home?

The LUMA suits a very common situation: a two-level home, an owner who wants to stay, and no appetite for a major building project.

Owners choose it to keep an upstairs bedroom in use, to reach a finished basement, or to make room for a parent moving in. Unlike a stair lift, it can be used by the whole household and does not require the rider to transfer onto a seat at the top of the stairs.

LUMA Questions

How many floors does the LUMA serve?

Two. It is designed to connect one level with the level directly above it.

What preparation does the house need?

An opening is cut and framed in the floor between the two levels, and a power supply is provided. No pit or shaft is built.

Where is the LUMA usually installed?

Wherever one room sits over another, such as a living room below a bedroom or a main floor above a basement room.

What happens to the floor opening when the cab is downstairs?

The opening is closed off, so the upper room can be used normally.
